We saw red on the red carpet (Dakota, Rosamund, Behati), pearls on the bodice (Lupita & Felicity) and plunging necklines (Margot, JLo, Faith), but the real standout this year at The Oscars were the diamonds. We saw simplistic elegance in enormous stud earrings, while other leading ladies opted for a more dramatic statement with bold earring choices. The actresses adorned their fingers with either a large solitaire or multiple diamond bands on every finger. For some, the necklace was the leading lady and the gown was the supporting actress (Margot, Zoe and Cate). The real star of the 2015 Oscars was the red carpet jewelry.
This is our favorite look of the night, by far. Margot Robbie wows in a plunging black St. Laurent dress with a newly chopped blunt blonde bombshell bob and hot red lips. It's hard to believe anything could detract our attention from that face, but the necklace did just that. This 18kt yellow gold, diamond and sapphire necklace originally designed for the Dutchess of Windsor in the 1930s was first produced by Van Cleef & Arpels in the '50s. The Zip Necklace has become an iconic example of innovation and design in the jewelry world. This necklace literally zips up so that it can alternatively be worn as a bracelet.
The two other stand-out necklaces on the red carpet were worn by Zoe Saldana and Cate Blanchett. Zoe went for classic Hollywood elegance in a gown by Atelier Versace and a statement 100 carat diamond necklace by Neil Lane. Cate's turquoise bib necklace was the integral component to her sleek look in a simple black dress by John Galliano for Maison Margiela.
Bold earrings ruled the red carpet this year. Marion Cotillard, Julianne Moore, Jenna Dewan Tatum and Reese Witherspoon dazzled with their diamond baubles.
Here is Elizabeth Bruns' take on this year's trend--a stunning pair of vintage diamond earrings.
Style forecasters always look to these trendsetters for their daring looks. Gwyneth Paltrow and Kerry Washington didn't disappoint at this year's Oscars. They upped the ante of a demure look with a bold earring.
Rita Ora took an edgier approach with a rock n' roll meets glam earring featuring yellow gold, diamonds and a rock crystal similar to the Hydra Earring designed by Kara Ross NY.
Dakota Johnson dropped handcuffs for 76 carats of diamonds on her wrists. See below for her stunning red carpet look and our interpretation.
Emma Stone appeared on many people's best dressed list and her matching diamond cuff bracelets are what landed her on ours.
The smaller details didn't go unnoticed and one of our favorite trends of the night was the diamond bands sparkling on many famous fingers.
